Who am I?
I am an optimist above all else. I moved from Las
Vegas, NV in 2003 (at the time the fastest growing economy) to Michigan (the fastest declining economy) and everyone I knew including those I met in Michigan thought I must have lost my mind. Six years later, I’ve grown to serve and thrive in the entire southeast Michigan region. I believed in the holistic community here and the people that make that community great, and the result is BodyVana. So who’s crazy now? My optimism has allowed me to have a strong healthy marriage, three brilliant toddlers, a home, and many wonderful clients and partners.
I’m nothing if not an optimist.

Why I do what I do?
I’ve always had a talent for serving others and after having a healing experience with real therapeutic massage, shout out to Jacquie McGuire, I was found an outlet for my talents. And I love it! Being an independent bodyworker allows me to serve a diverse number of clients who are always happy to see me, even when they know they’re in for some intense work, and I don’t have to choose between work and family. Helping people at any stage of their lives gives me energy, a sense of purpose and what can I say, I love it.

Professional Mission/Philosophy
I believe that developing a respectful attitude towards my clients bodies and needs is what differentiates between the assembly line massage and truly therapeutic bodywork. I tailor each session to a client’s needs for that day. I am mindful of their spoken and unspoken cues, and no matter how intense or detailed the work may be, clients are never sore or feel “beat-up” nor should they. Massage is good for you and it should feel good for you.

Favorites

I try to be socially and politically aware so I tend toward those genres but I love reading and film and music for fun too. (I’m not completely serious) So randomly, my favorites are:
The People’s History of the United States, The Dark Tower Series, ALL PT Anderson movies, SmodCast, Vampire Weekend, The Holy Bible, all kinds of Sci-fi especially short story collections, the writings of Thoreau, George Lopez, did I say James Brown?, reggae music, jazz (not the Kenny G. Kind, but the Coltrane, Monk, Colman kind), Sicko, scary movies, documentaries and food, food, food. So if you don’t want to tip me, feed me!!
